The Challenge
Between studying complex anatomy, preparing for clinical rotations, and conducting medical research, students at UNSW’s busy campus need spaces where they can concentrate. Therefore, we installed a pod right on their Port Macquarie campus, giving them a quiet zone for those crucial study sessions.
What Makes It Work
The Connect Pod isn’t just quiet – it’s engineered for silence. The acoustic walls cut noise by around 24 decibels, so students can focus without the background noise of campus life.
Inside, there’s an adjustable sit-stand desk (comfort for long study marathons), ventilation fans, and LED lighting that won’t strain tired eyes. Everything runs on a standard power outlet, with built-in USB and Ethernet ports so students can always stay connected.
Furthermore, we added a tempered glass door for extra sound insulation, ideal for calming the noise from a bustling city campus.
