Office Acoustic Pods for Local Government – Blacktown City Council, NSW
With over 2,000 staff and constant cross-team activity, Blacktown City Council — NSW’s largest local government area — needed private spaces for confidential calls and collaboration, without building work or disruption. We installed a Collab Pod and Single Pod directly into their existing offices.
The Challenge
When you have multiple teams working in shared rooms, finding a spot for confidential calls or collaboration without interrupting others (or being interrupted) can be a tall order. Is this something we could help with? Absolutely.
The Solution
We installed a Collab Pod directly inside their staff room – essentially creating a room within a room for small group discussions. Now teams can hold confidential discussions, take important calls, or collaborate on projects without worrying about who else is in the space.
Why the Collab Pod Works
The Collab Pod is engineered with 51mm acoustic walls, significantly reducing outside noise. This means you can hold a proper conversation without having to raise your voice, or strain to hear anyone. What’s discussed inside stays inside, and the activity from the rest of the meeting room stays out.
Inside, there’s comfortable seating for up to four people around a sizeable round table, with four ventilation fans maintaining optimal airflow. Overhead LED lighting creates a professional environment, while built-in power outlets, USB-C, USB-A, and Ethernet ports ensure full connectivity for extended sessions.
The tempered glass door provides both security and additional sound insulation. So, whether it’s HR conducting confidential chats or the marketing team discussing upcoming community events, conversations remain private and productive.
The Single Pod Advantage
We also added a Single Pod to their premises, giving individual staff members a dedicated space for private calls and focused work. This compact solution offers the same acoustic engineering as the Collab Pod in a footprint designed for one person.
The Flexibility Factor
Both pods sit on lockable wheels, so Blacktown City Council can reposition them around the office as they need. This means departments can also easily share use of the pods as they require.
And since our pods run off standard power outlets – there’s no construction, fixed wiring, or disruption to their existing operations.
